Gratitude

When speaking of creating habits that support you, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention gratitude. We often hear people talking about the ills of the world, the negative things that have happened to them or to others. Becoming aware of these conversations is critical to finding inner stillness. As discussed earlier, your thoughts about the world create your reality. Continuously focusing on negative situations and people is limiting and draining. Step out of this toxic pattern and direct your attention instead to what you are thankful for. Start your day by noticing five things for which you are grateful. This regular practice helps ground you in positive energy and serves as a catalyst for finding inner harmony. My hope is that you can begin to replace any unfavorable thoughts about your life with thoughts of gratitude. Then watch how the habit of gratitude attracts more things to be grateful for into your life.

As your day unfolds, identify your habits and assess whether they bring you up or down. Clear the aspects of your life that have become stagnant, creating dis-ease and inhibiting inner peace. Based on these efforts, all areas of your life will begin to shift. Let the current carry you gently to the calm of your inner harbor.
